How could a leadership-designed game improve Emotional Intelligence, Social skills, and even Management?
Yes. That was as mind-blowing for me as it is for you now when you first read it. But I will tell you the story of my first experience with Evivve and how all my suppositions were confirmed when I started the Certification Program and began integrating Evivve into our L&D Training programs. I was in a facilitators community meeting when Mohsin Memon presented us with the game and how this could help us learn leadership and team skills. I was impressed by its power from the start.
Why?
- Because it keeps people active and motivated during the whole game experience
- It brings the gamification specials
- It brings the team to work together on the same big goal
- It reveals a lot of hidden team dynamics and flows
- It reveals personal strong points and weaknesses
- It is the start of great insights on any topic on leadership, management, and team efficiency skills
And then it hit me. What if I use the Evivve – Leadership game as an emotional intelligence and social skills facilitation tool? It was just a “tiny” step from the idea to practice. The actual work of integrating the game into my learning and development programs was a challenge. Still, I had the support of the best mentor on this, Mohsin Memon, the designer and facilitation expert of the Evivve Leadership Game and many other games for learning facilitation.
So how did I do it?
I started learning more about the Evivve game, enrolled in the Facilitator Certification program, studied all the game mechanics and learning behaviors materials, and started facilitating the game myself. All these helped me better understand what the game is capable of. The second step was integrating what I learned about game facilitation and mechanics into my program.
Curious to know more about the result?
I incorporated the Evivve game sessions into the Emotional Intelligence Mixed Model, developed by David Goleman. Goleman’s model uses “The Five Components” to efficiently describe emotional intelligence.
- Self-Awareness (confidence, recognition of feelings)
- Self-Regulation (self-control, trustworthiness, adaptability)
- Motivation (drive, commitment, initiative, optimism)
- Empathy (understanding others’ feelings, diversity, political awareness)
- Social Skills (leadership, conflict management, communication skills)
Split into two practical modules, combined with coaching tools and deep self-discovery experiential sessions, the training is capable of delivering efficient results, and all participants will leave with at least one thing learned about themselves or others, about team dynamics, the power of games in learning, empathy, communication, and collaboration skills.
I won’t tell the whole story of the game here. Most importantly, it is a Multiplayer Online Game-Based Learning (MOGL) Tool for Leadership and Team Development, trusted by big technical and non-technical companies like Apple, Dell, Netflix, Microsoft, PwC, Amazon, and many, many more. I will add a teaser with the Evivve Game Trailer Video here to see why it is a must for your team to play it. I recommend live session training based on Evivve because it is a very good reason to call people at the office and have a great time together (which could lead to a habit of working from the office occasionally).
